I seem to be finding legwarmers everywhere these days. My weekend Etsy search led me to this pair from Corpseknit. They feature an elegant plaid tie adorned with a pressed metal dragon button (see insert). Like many of my favorite designers, Corpseknit designer Jessica Rose, has another artisitic talent. She’s also the keyboardist for the Canadian metal band, Woods of Ypres.
Here’s what she says about her work:
I studied Fashion Design in Toronto, and graduated with highest honours in 2003. I am now working out of my humble home studio in Kitchener, Ontario. My work is produced using a mechanical vintage Japanese knitting machine. Creating this way allows me to knit delicate yarn in intricate patterns that I would not be able to do by hand. With great patience and meticulous attention to detail, each piece is individually knit, blocked, and seamed.
If you’re a fan of Victorian fashion or Steampunk be sure to visit Corpseknit’s Shop. (check out the fingerless gloves… they’re on sale until October 22.)

As you probably noticed, I always have an eye out for Steampunk inspired clothing. This reconstructed vest is from Lorimarsha over at Etsy. It would look great with skinny jeans and a long-sleeve black top. Lorimarsha has been in the business for about ten years. This is from her profile at Etsy—-
I’ve been designing handbags and jewelry for about ten years and in 2005 I added recycled and redesigned clothing to the mix. I have been fortunate to sell my work in a variety of venues from a funky shop on Olvera Street in LA to The Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery in Washington DC. I was the featured designer for the March/April 2008 issue of Belle Armoire magazine which included a cover and a nine page spread. They did a beautiful job photographing my most recent work. My handbags have been featured on the cover of The Craft Report magazine and in the book “Hip Handbags.”

A while ago I wrote a post about steampunk messenger bags, and another post about Gothic Lolita and a steampunk screenplay.
Today I found a post from HighFashionGirl along with a link to this New York Times Steampunk Fashion article which I had missed. (Thanks, HFG!)
I tend to agree with her about the silliness (and impracticality) of the clothing, especially for the women, but I do like the accessories, the bags from BabaStudioPrague and the jewelry from Rivkasmom, like this Steampunk Brooch Pin.
